FAQs
Therapy can feel unfamiliar or even intimidating—this page is here to make the process a little easier to understand.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
You don’t need to have a diagnosis or a crisis to start therapy. If you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or curious about your patterns and emotions, therapy can help. A consultation call can help us figure out if we’re a good fit.
What happens if we’re not a good fit?
That’s okay! I’ll do my best to refer you to a trusted colleague or help you explore other options. The most important part of therapy is feeling safe and supported.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need, because therapy should be accessible. If cost is a concern, please reach out—I’ll do my best to support you.
Do you only offer virtual therapy?
Yes, all sessions are held virtually via a secure video platform or it can also be conducted via phone call. This makes it easier to fit therapy into your life while maintaining privacy and flexibility.
Do you offer receipts for insurance or benefits?
Yes. I can provide a receipt with my registration details. If you have extended health benefits that cover psychotherapy or services by a registered social worker, you may be eligible for reimbursement—please ensure you confirm with your provider what your coverage includes.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept Interac e-transfer and credit card. Payment is due at the end of each session.
What languages do you offer therapy in?
I offer sessions in English, Spanish, and French. You’re welcome to switch between languages during sessions—whatever feels most natural for you.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and whether my approach feels like a good fit for you. There’s no pressure—we move at your pace.
What types of therapy do you use?
My approach is trauma-informed and culturally grounded. I draw from:
- Narrative Therapy
- Internal Family Systems (IFS)
- Mindfulness and Self-Compassion
I adapt my approach to your needs, and together we’ll co-create the direction of your healing journey.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be charged the full session fee.
Is everything I share confidential?
Yes—your privacy is protected. The only exceptions are legal or safety concerns (like risk of harm to yourself, others or children), which we’ll review in our first session.
Can we speak Spanglish or switch languages during session?
Yes! You can express yourself in the way that feels most natural—English, Spanish, French, or a mix. Therapy is your space.
Do you work with people outside of the second-gen community?
Yes. While my work is grounded in cultural awareness and I have a special focus on immigrant, first-gen and second gen experiences, I also provide trauma-informed therapy for individuals who have experienced or witnessed intimate partner violence and are working to rebuild safety and trust after abuse. This work is done at your pace, with attention to cultural dynamics that may complicate healing or leaving. I welcome all clients who resonate with my approach.
How do I book a session?
You can book a free 15-minute consultation here or use the contact form on the home page to reach out with any other questions you may have.
